If one truly wants to care for oneself, the \u201cBuddha Dharma self\u201d must first be activated in one&#8217;s heart as the guardian of the \u201cordinary being\u2019s ego\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Each of us has two selves, namely the \u201cBuddha self\u201d and the \u201cordinary being\u2019s ego\u201d. The \u201cBuddha self\u201d is real, while the \u201cordinary being\u2019s ego\u201d is false. The \u201cordinary being\u2019s ego\u201d commits sins, accumulates bad karma, and binds itself fast to the wheel of birth and death. Since the \u201cordinary being\u2019s ego\u201d is illusory in nature, the relevant unwholesome deeds and samsara (the cycle of reincarnation in the six realms) are necessarily illusory, not real.
